Remember all the hype about great fat biking at Silver Lake Dunes earlier in the winter? If so, you’ll probably also remember the DNR very politely informing everyone that it is definitely not (currently) allowed.
After much discussion and coordination between the Shoreline Cycling Club, DNR, & MEMBA: the time has come! The DNR has allowed us to host two pilot events coming up in a couple weeks on March 13 & 14, 9-11:30am.
Here’s the important info:
- Each day is limited to 25 total people due to COVID restrictions. There will also be COVID protocol followed, a waiver sent to participants ahead of time, and a post-ride survey to help gather the information needed to make this change for good.
- SIGN UP IS REQUIRED. Send a message to Joe (treasurer@ridememba.com) to grab a spot.
- If you are not a member of SCC or MEMBA, you can purchase a $20 pass for the day (insurance purposes) over at https://shorelinecyclingclub.org/store. OR, better: sign up to be a member of SCC and/or MEMBA!
- EDIT: This is not a DNR collection. Until this becomes a legal activity, it has to occur as an “event” which the DNR team is working hard with our groups to make happen. An “event” requires insurance which we are assisting with. If you’re not a member of SCC or MEMBA, you’re welcome to join and sign up for either day!
This is an awesome opportunity to encourage opening up a huge area to fat bikes. As much as we all love machine groomed trail, mother nature is a heck of a groomer herself!
