What’s coming up in MEMBA-land

You may have noticed that the blog here has been pretty silent…that’s because we’re out riding, digging, and, well, mostly clearing trees! But there is a lot going on in the coming days, so let’s get it all out there!

Pedal the Pigeon – Saturday 8/21

A Kids Only Mountain Bike Race put on by our friends at Velo City Cycles! Not only have these kids been practicing for this race all summer long on MEMBA trails through the Velo Kids and Junior Velo programs, they even spent some time giving back and doing trail work! Registration is closed, but you can still drop by Pigeon Creek on Saturday afternoon and cheer on the future of MEMBA!

Look alive, team!

Mudflap team biking event – Saturday 8/21

Mudflap means business. In the front, at least.

This is an awesome team alleycat-style event with the added bonus that our friends at Tripelroot are graciously donating proceeds to MEMBA 🤘 Grab your team of 2-6 to solve clues, complete challenges and transport various items to different locations in the greater Zeeland area. A bit of friendly competition meets complete nonsense.

MEMBA Member Shindig – Thursday 8/26

Like bikes? Pizzas? A real cool gang of friendly folks riding bikes and eating pizzas? Come on out to Mosquito Creek either way! All are welcome. Bring a bike, whatever you want to drink, and join us to recognize some stellar volunteering, talk about the trails, future plans, etc. We’ll have a bunch of apparel on hand and plenty of other ways to support the trails.

Jamestown/Dig In grant – now!

We’ll put out a much more in depth update about Jamestown soon, but for now, we’re STOKED to have been chosen for an IMBA Dig In presented by Shimano grant! What does this mean? IMBA and Shimano will match donations to the Jamestown project! So sick! But first we need to get to at least $2k. If you’re as amped as we are for Jamestown and able to donate, head over here to do so and have your donation matched! Again, much more coming soon!

Mosquito Creek construction – ~8/26 – ?

Thought we were done out at Mosquito Creek?? Think again! Josh from TrailSense is making his way to the trail next week to focus on ADDING FEATURES! Thanks to the smashing success of the phase III features campaign, we raised enough to bring Josh out to build some really rad stuff. In order to get the most out of the donation dollars, we need YOU! The more volunteers we can put out there to do the finishing work, the more time Josh can spend in the heavy machinery. If you’re interested in lending a hand, submit the volunteer application here. We’ll get you a waiver to e-sign and keep you in the loop for volunteer opportunities in the coming weeks.

5As at Allegan State Game Area

As you may be aware: recent storms wreaked absolute havoc on just about all Michigan trails. However you may not be aware of the awesome team that has taken up maintenance at the Allegan State Game Area: the Allegan Area Aerobic Activity Association (5As) led by Rob Allen! If you live in the Allegan area and/or love riding the area trails, check out the 5As. And also send a huge high five to the team for this clean up effort!
